Katkalo V. S. Resource-Based Approach to Strategic Management: The Genesis of Main Ideas and Notions

This article contains pioneering for the Russian literature complex analysis of the intellectual roots, conceptual apparatus and development trends of the re¬source-based approach (RBA), that achieved dominant positions in strategic management theory in the last decade. Detailed study of the correlation between its key categories — resources and competences — is provided. The author reviews two main research perspectives in the RBA: its more traditional version and the dynamic capabilities approach. The conclusion is that the latter is more adequate to the needs of strategic management in the contemporary competitive environment.
